A 44-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at her home near Perris early Monday after authorities say she stabbed her boyfriend in the chest during an argument.
Kathy Monsivaiz was being held at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, jail records show. Her bail was set at $1 million.
About 9:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies were called out to the home Monsivaiz shared with her 41-year-old boyfriend in the 22000 block of Mountain Avenue in the unincorporated Good Hope area, said Sgt. Patrick Chavez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. They found the man suffering from several stab wounds to the torso.
The victim was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley where he was admitted to the intensive care unit in critical condition, Chavez said. Investigators still had not been able to interview him as of Monday afternoon, Chavez said.
Chavez said Monsivaiz was still in the home when deputies arrived but she would not speak with investigators. It was not immediately clear what the motive was for the stabbing or what weapon was used, he said.
Chavez said a family member called 911 to report the stabbing.
Authorities ask that anyone with information call the sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Station at 951-245-3300 or, after hours and on weekends, sheriff’s dispatch at 951-766-1099.
