Costa Mesa police took a Murrieta man into custody on Friday, July 27, in connection with a rape and robbery at a Temecula motel room on June 28.
Melbrough Williams Jr., 44, was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in French Valley on suspicion of kidnapping, rape and robbery.
Temecula police wrote in a news release that police had received a report that a woman had been raped and robbed at gunpoint inside her motel room at the Quality Inn in Temecula on June 28.
An investigation led detectives to believe the suspect was in Costa Mesa. Police there found Williams and detained him.
