A man was wounded and his companions fled this morning during a pre-dawn shooting in a San Bernardino motel room, police say.
The gunfire was reported at 3:55 a.m. today in room 116 of The Days Inn, 1386 East Highland Ave.
Several persons were in the room when a compact car pulled up, a gunman entered, fired one shot into the victim’s chest, and drove away, said Lt. Paul Williams.
“The rest of the occupants fled on foot,” he said.
Police haven’t released the name of the victim, but say he is in stable condition at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Detectives haven’t been able to speak to him or find his companions, so the motive for the shooting is unclear, Williams said.
