A Duarte man was sentenced to a term of 100-years-to-life in prison for fatally shooting his brother at the Rose Bowl last year.

The sentence was handed down Wednesday at Pasadena Superior Court.

Clifton Cass, 57, was found guilty in February of shooting his brother Victor Cass in the early morning of Feb. 24, 2011, in the Rose Bowl parking lot.

Prosecutors and family members said the slaying was fueled by one brother’s disrespect toward their mother and disagreements over drugs and money.

Clifton Cass faces an additional 25 years to life for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. He had five prior convictions.

Victor Cass was shot three times at close range and suffered cuts on his left shoulder and neck. During the trial prosecutors said the neck wound was a result of a failed attempt at a beheading.
