A 75-year-old Texas man hiking the Pacific Crest Trail was found in San Bernardino County after he was missing for more than a week.
John Hurgner, 75, of Fredericksburg, Texas, had been missing since March 22, a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department news release stated. Hurgner was hiking in the area of the Pacific Crest Trail in the San Bernardino Mountains. He was headed north from the Mission Springs campground and has not reached his checkpoint at the Motel 6 in San Bernardino.
Members of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, the Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit, Desert Sheriff Search and Rescue and the Riverside County Search Dogs started looking for the man Sunday morning.
Deputy Angel Martinez, spokesman for the Riverside sheriff’s, confirmed that Hurgner had been found, but had no immediate details.
