Police: Argument leads to mother-daughter stabbing

Article Tab: simpson-andrea-booking-phCOSTA MESA – A woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of stabbing her mother following an argument, according to police.

After receiving a call around 7 p.m., police found Alice Simpson, 51, in her apartment in the 400 block of Hamilton Street with multiple stab wounds to her chest, arms and back. She was taken to Western Medical Center Santa Ana. She is expected to survive.

Simpson told police in an investigation that her daughter, who has a history of mental illness, took a large knife from the kitchen and stabbed her several times during their argument, according to a police release.

Simpson’s daughter fled the scene before police arrived.

Andrea Quanita Simpson, 18, was located by police when a Huntington Beach Police helicopter saw her walking near Victoria Street and Newport Boulevard, police said. Police found the suspected knife in the assault in Simpson’s possession, according to the release.

She was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
