A woman believed to be involved in a domestic dispute died after being shot in a Costa Mesa neighborhood Sunday evening, police said.
The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Redwood Avenue, between Baker and Adams. As officers arrived, they heard a single gunshot coming from inside a house, police said.
They stormed the home and found a female with gunshot wounds to her chest, police said.
“Additionally, a male believed to be the suspect was also located in the residence and taken into custody without incident,” police said.
Evidence indicates that the man in custody “had a domestic relationship with the victim,” Lt. Mark Manley said.
The names of the victim and the suspect are being withheld pending further investigation and notification of the victim’s family, police said.
