A man who jumped off a 96-foot bridge into a creek bed over the weekend has died, authorities said Tuesday.
The man, who authorities have not identified, was pronounced dead shortly after 1:30 p.m. after spending several days at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
CHP officers about 4:40 p.m. Saturday responded to a call from a woman who reported that her son had jumped off a bridge near Oso and Antonio parkways in Las Flores, an unincorporated area near Mission Viejo.
Authorities believe the mother and her adult son were at a nearby home when he decided to go for a walk. The mother reportedly went searching for him and found him near the bridge.
The woman told authorities that she tried to persuade her son to get into the car but said he instead climbed up onto the railing of the bridge and jumped, landing in a creek bed.
