IRVINE – A 23-year-old man was hit in the head with an object after getting into an argument with another man near the pool of an apartment complex Tuesday night, police officials said.
The man was found bleeding from the head in the apartment complex, and was taken to Hoag Hospital in Irvine to be treated, said Capt. Marc Stone of the Orange County Fire Authority.
Officers are not sure how the argument began, but the 23-year-old had gotten into a verbal argument at about 9 p.m. with another man in a complex in the 3700 block of Parkview Lane, said Lt. Julia Engen of the Irvine Police Department.
A short time later, the man was walking down a path away from the pool when he was hit in the head, possibly with a bottle, Engen said.
Police and paramedics were called to the apartment after the man was found bleeding on the ground.
His medical condition was not immediately available, but Stone said the man was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived.
Witnesses gave officers a name and a description of the suspect, and police took Donovan Frierson into custody, Engen said.
According to arrest records, Frierson was being held in Men’s Central Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Police do not believe the victim and Frierson knew each other before the incident.
