CAMP PENDLETON – A fire that was sparked during a training exercise Monday night has burned 450 acres, base officials said, but no structures are threatened.
Two Camp Pendleton firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the flames overnight, but were reported to be in stable condition.
The fire was first reported at about 4 p.m. Monday, and was reported to be 80 percent contained as of Tuesday morning.
The blaze was first reported more than two miles from an air station and moving northeast. Crews were using aircraft, strike teams and hand crews were sent to fight the flames.
According to a statement released by Camp Pendleton officials, firefighters at the base are still fighting the fire on the ground to contain it.
