MISSION VIEJO – A woman who posed as a man during a bank robbery in June has been arrested, authorities said.
The woman was taken into custody Friday evening, after authorities received a tip about her identity through Orange County Crime Stoppers, a non-profit tip line that works alongside Orange County law enforcement agencies.
Yvonne Marie Hernandez, 45, was taken into custody Friday, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
A resident of Montebello, Hernandez has a prior history involving bank robberies, he said.
Authorities received the tip after news accounts of the June 19 robbery were broadcast in local news agencies, Amormino said.
The robbery was reported at 1:45 p.m. at a Chase Bank branch inside an Albertsons market at 25872 Muirlands Blvd.
The woman, seen wearing baggy jeans and a button-up shirt with a cap. She was seen in surveillance video handing a note to a teller, then walking away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Hernandez has since been remanded into the custody of U.S. Marshals and will be charged in federal court, Amormino said.
