BUENA PARK – Authorities seek a woman suspected of robbing six banks, including a Buena Park branch and two others within a 24-hour period.
The woman police are calling the “Plain Jane Bandit” is suspected of carrying out two bank robberies in Moreno Valley on Monday and a U.S. Bank Branch in the 5400 block of Beach Boulevard on Tuesday morning, followed by a robbery at a Wildomar branch on Tuesday afternoon, FBI officials said. Authorities have previously tied her to a bank robbery in Santa Fe Springs on July 12 and Whittier on July 19.
Authorities say that during the robberies the woman demanded money, both verbally and with notes, and claimed to have an accomplice waiting for her outside the banks.
They described the woman as a Hispanic woman, about 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5, 150 to 170 pounds, 30 to 40 years old, who was driving a four-door silver vehicle with a sunroof.
The woman earned her nickname after a witness to one of the earlier robberies described her as a “plain jane,” said Laura Eimiller, an FBI spokeswoman.
