SANTA ANA – A man whose body was found lying on a trail near the Santa Ana River on Sunday morning has been identified as 57-year-old Dennis Dougherty.
A passerby reported seeing the body at 7:16 a.m. Sunday along the concrete riverbed, near where it passes under the Warner Avenue and Harbor Boulevard bridges in Santa Ana, said Orange County Sherriff’s Sgt. Dan Walsh.
Walsh said the death was being investigated as a suicide because a note was found with the body.
Orange County coroner’s officials did not immediately release where Dougherty resided.
A full autopsy to determine the cause of his death is expected to be performed this week, officials said.
