ANAHEIM – Three people were injured in a gang-related shooting Sunday night, authorities said.
The shooting was reported about 9:39 p.m. in an alley in the area of Balsam Avenue and Curtis Court. A passenger in a vehicle got out and fired one round from a shotgun, said Anaheim police Sgt. Steve Pena.
The victims – a 19-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy – ran away, and the unidentified vehicle left the scene, police said.
Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn said the 19-year-old made his way to the hospital. Police found the 15-year-old at a nearby apartment and the 17-year-old at the east end of Balsam Avenue, Dunn added.
Dunn said the 15-year-old was seen by Anaheim paramedics.
The shooting is under investigation.
Shotgun shells can contain several small pellets, which makes it possible to hit more than one target. Dunn said investigators are trying to determine how three people were hit by a single round.
