Driver flees scene of 22 freeway pile-up

On the eastbound 22 freeway at Main Street, Orange city and Orange County Fire Authority firefighter-paramedics prepare the driver of a Toyota 4Runner for a trip to the hospital after his SUV collided with a car whose driver fled the scene. The 4Runner also collided with a Mercedes-Benz sedan before it rolled over.

ORANGE – A person was injured Monday in a hit-and-run crash on the eastbound 22 freeway in Orange, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred about 7:10 a.m. near Main Street, said CHP Officer Denise Quesada. The condition of the injured person was not immediately known.

 The occupants of one vehicle got out, ran from the scene, and were being sought, Quesada said.

Authorities closed the carpool lane while an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the crash.
