SANTA ANA – A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after he was stabbed several times by a man who fled Tuesday night, police said.
About 11:30 p.m., the victim was at home in the 600 block of West Third Street when the man, an acquaintance of his female roommate, arrived intoxicated and tried to contact his roommate, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
The man was scaring the woman and the victim tried to intervene, asking him to leave, Bertagna said.
Bertagna said the man grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso.
The man then fled on foot.
“We are currently looking for him,” Bertagna said Wednesday morning.
At this point, it is unknown how the man got the knife. Investigators were at the scene Wednesday morning and were attempting to obtain a search warrant, Bertagna said.
The victim remained in critical condition Wednesday morning, Bertagna said.
