NEWPORT BEACH – An 85-year-old pedestrian died shortly after he was struck by a pickup truck on a freeway off ramp, authorities said.
Thuy Nguyen of Anaheim was pronounced dead early Saturday at Mission Hospital, according to the Orange County Coroner’s office.
At 10:05 p.m. Friday, California Highway Patrol officers responded to an incident in which a man was struck by a dark gray Toyota Tundra on the southbound off ramp of the 73 toll road at MacArthur Boulevard, said Bill Benard, a patrol dispatcher.
Nguyen was taken to Mission Hospital, where he died at 12:46 a.m. Saturday, according to the coroner’s office.
No arrests were made, Benard said.
