IRVINE – A tennis instructor was arrested Thursday on suspicion of having inappropriate physical contact with a 13-year-old student, police said.
The 29-year-old man was taken into custody by Irvine Police after parents found suspicions text messages on the student’s cell phone, according to the department.
The messages were reviewed by investigators Wednesday.
On Thursday afternoon, police served a search warrant at home of Jarrid Thomas Baldogo, where he was taken into custody on suspicion of lewd conduct with a child, police said.
Police said there is no indication there were other victims, but Baldogo has had direct access to children working as a tennis instructor for a number of years.
For more than two years, Baldogo has worked as a private instructor and obtained most of his clients over the Internet. Before that, he worked as an instructor for a company in the Woodbridge area.
Police did not disclose the name of the company.
