COSTA MESA – A man brandishing a gun and wearing a wig robbed a bank Tuesday morning, police said.
Officers were still looking for the robber Tuesday afternoon, said Lt. Greg Scott, a Costa Mesa police spokesman.
About 9 a.m., a man walked into Citibank at 2700 Harbor Blvd. and walked to a teller window. He pointed a gun at the teller and demanded money, Scott said.
The woman put money into the robber’s bag, as did a second teller. Employees had already set off an alarm, but the man ran out of the bank before police arrived.
Scott said witnesses saw him go toward an apartment complex behind the building. Officers stopped a car in the area, but said the driver had nothing to do with the robbery.
Police said the robber was white, about 6 feet 3 inches and 250 pounds. He was wearing a black T-shirt, a black leather jacket, a dark wig and glasses.
Police asked anyone with information to call them at 714-754-5205.
