GARDEN GROVE – A man who police say was threatening his family with a knife was shot by police Sunday morning.
The man, who police have not identified, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he underwent surgery and is expected to recover, said Lt. Ben Stauffer of the Garden Grove Police Department.
At about 7 a.m. Sunday, police were called to a house in the 9600 block of Teal Avenue, according to a news release. Police found a man armed with a knife and threatening the family, according to the news release. The shooting reportedly occurred as the police confronted the man.
Stauffer did not know if the man lives at the house. But the man, 30, is related to the people he was threatening, Stauffer said.
No officers were injured in the incident. The names of the officers involved are not being released at this time, Stauffer said.
The incident is being investigated by the District Attorney’s Office, which is protocol, police said.
