FOUNTAIN VALLEY – Three men are facing robbery charges after police say they robbed a Fountain Valley liquor store, with one of the men also believed to be tied to several previous hold-ups.
Investigators allege that Brandon Bibbs, 19, of Cypress took part in five robberies, while Shakial Boulton, 20, of Cypress and Jordan Morua, 21, of La Palma are each suspected of being involved in one robbery, according to a police statement.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on Jan. 18 officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at a liquor store in the 18000 block of Magnolia. The clerk told officers that a man had brandished a gun and taken cash from the register before getting into a vehicle occupied by two other men, police said.
A Huntington Beach police officer a short time later saw a vehicle matching the description of the one used in the robbery. During a search of the car, the officer discovered cash believed to have been stolen from the liquor store and an airsoft gun that had been “spraypainted black to conceal an orange tip,” police said.
The occupants of the vehicle – Bibbs, Boulton and Morua – were arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail system.
After looking at video surveillance footage, investigators also suspect that Bibbs robbed the same Fountain Valley liquor store on two previous occasions, as well as businesses in Huntington Beach and Anaheim.
Bibbs is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail, police said, while Morua and Boulton were released after posting $50,000 bail.
