YORBA LINDA – A homicide investigation is underway after a woman was found dead on the street of a neighborhood Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The woman was spotted near Mirkwood Run and Live Oak Lane at about 5:40 a.m., said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

A bicyclist reported the woman was on the ground, said Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority.

Dispatchers offered CPR instructions, but the bicyclist and another witness both said they were medically trained and the woman was dead, he said.

Investigators have been called to the area and are conducting a homicide investigation, sheriff’s officials said.

More information to come.

Surveillance video of a man suspected of robbing a bank in Seal Beach on Monday, Nov. 25.
SEAL BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT

SEAL BEACH – – A Main Street Bank of America branch was robbed Monday afternoon by a man who police say may be connected with an earlier bank robbery in Yorba Linda.

A thin man in a blue button-down shirt walked up to a teller about 1:23 p.m. Monday, passed the teller a note and walked away with an undisclosed amount of cash, Seal Beach police spokesman Sergeant Ron LaVelle said.

LaVelle said the demand note said “something to the effect of ‘I need 50s and 20s,’” but he didn’t have specifics.

No one was injured in the robbery, and the man was last seen walking south on Main Street, LaVelle said.

Police described the man as Caucasian, between 48 and 50 years old and 5’9”.

Police haven’t identified the suspect from surveillance video but his appearance suggests he may have been involved in the robbery of a Yorba Linda bank about 10 days ago, LaVelle said.

The department is asking anyone with information to contact Det. Gary Krogman at 562-799-4100, ext. 1108. Wells Fargo is offering a reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest, according to the release.

SANTA ANA – While no trial date is set yet for a Yorba Linda man indicted last year on charges he killed six people – including four homeless men – lawyers on both sides say a late 2014 start is realistic.

Superior Court Judge Francisco Briseño on Friday set a pretrial hearing for Jan. 17 for Itzcoatl “Izzy” Ocampo, 25.

As the short hearing Friday ended and as sheriff’s deputies were taking Ocampo away, he smiled and looked back at his family members, some of whom said, “We love you.”

The Marine Iraq war veteran is charged with the unprovoked stabbing deaths of four homeless men and the slayings of a Yorba Linda woman and her adult son.
